I had been looking for an old Hitachi Visionbook just for that reason! Sadly I couldn't find any that were within my price range. At first I bought an old broken Powerbook Duo 270c for a song, but later my fears were confirmed and its LCD screen was too wide to fit centered within the CC. I settled upon a used Panasonic CF-M32, which has an 8.4" display panel less than 22cm wide, supporting both 640x480 and 800x600 res. As an avid Photoshop user, SVGA is worth its weight in gold. And for what I paid for this TFT panel, that saying rings uncomfortably true.

I also thought of the 20th anniversary mac when I pondered this project. However, I think it almost certain that Apple used a homegrown RGB conversion board within the TAM. All the 630 connector's pins are accounted for, and the small slot for external RGB mirroring is definitely analog. If the 6500/5500 motherboards have digital signals, they are travelling along a short, unidentifiable group of circuits sprouting from the Rage IIc - far too small to attach any wires.

One of those TAM RGB Controllers would be very useful...
