A microfarad (µF) is the same as 1000 nanofarads (nF). One nF is equal to 1000 picofarads (pF). Thus, your capacitors are 10nF, not 1nF, and about 10 times too "strong," so to speak. However, I can't say why it isn't doing anything; adding too much capacitance should cause the picture to be too wide to fit on the screen no matter how much you shrink it down. (At least by following the logic of the VGA mod for the 12" RGB display, which reduces capacitance to horizontally shrink the screen size to manageable levels.)
