I agree with Chris, The LC 575 upgrade is a good first step,
since it will give a large performance increase with minimal effort. The VGA modification is not all that hard to do, especially if you have the standard analog board, not the performa 275 type. It was the first thing I did after the VGA mod, it I was quite pleased with the results. Granted, I had access to a 575 logic board for free... If you can't find one at a reasonable price, buying a 5260 from Sun remarketing for $200 will get you everything you need to get a basic PCC up and running. It all depends on what parts you can buy at a reasonable price.
