We had an agreement with mum that we’d always abide by school rules which was no white sports with school uniform in secondary school but we could wear sports socks on holiday and at weekends. The slipper was horrible, it felt like my bum was on fire after it, both Josh and me cried our eyes out after getting it! Both mum and dad were very capable of having us in tears if they used their hands to smack us as well even as teenagers. The slipper was reserved for big wrongs like doing dangerous things being highly abusive or extreme temper tantrums or telling lies.
