Hi, Jack,

Your "choice" of socks is curious. At my school the boys have to wear socks. The girls can wear sandals with no socks and painted toenails if they wish, a blatant case of discrimination based on sex, but we boys have to wear shoes and socks. However, which socks are up to us. Many of us, me included, choose to wear white athletic ("sports") socks. They are cheaper, wear longer, absorb sweat and help prevent foot odor. Mom washes my socks along with my underwear (also white), sheets, and other white goods with bleach which kills the bacteria also helping keep down the foot odor. Of course they look dorky, but if for some reason we want to look cool we can always wear colored socks on occasion. Of course, if I have to wear more formal attire, especially my suit, then colored socks are a must, but for almost all other times its white athletic socks.
