Hi Paul. I'm Tim from France and I have 2 brothers.
We were spanked until old age by both parents. Punishments were severe and frequent and always were a spanking, sometimes followed by other "torments" .
With 4 kids in that age I assume Spanking isn't a rare occurrence.
