Yes and not just the neighbors but also people walking past. Our street has a lot of houses built very close together, so there are always lots of people walking past for whatever reasons. And the door of our garage is about ten feet from the street. And has a gap at the bottom so anyone outside could hear anything easily.

Although, I'm not sure that either of those huge paddles actually got used on little kids. Which is why the "my little bro is not happy about his new paddle" pic is really interesting, cos it seems more likely to be real.

And also this one, which is a real life kid aged 5 or 6 getting a real life school paddling from a paddle that to me seems way too big for his age:
