Yes I have seen the photo of the 8 year old boy with belt marks on his back. I was 8 the first time I got the belt. I had swore at my Mum. Dad to took me into their bedroom made me pull down my pants and briefs and gave me a few licks.

I remember an episode of Criminal Minds where there was a flashback where the unsub was a teenager. His Dad got him to take off his shirt and belted him across his back. I have chatted to another guy who had a friend whose Dad belted him on his bare back. There a few video clips on Corpun of youth/teens getting the belt standing up, on the spot over their clothes - I imagine in some situations some of those licks may land on their backs.

Will have to look up the birching of the 15 year old boy as I haven't seen that photo.
