That was a battle !
I'm not sure (I did not understand well) if you smacked only his bottom or the back of his legs too ?
Because the effect (the pain) is very different for the same swing and implement.
If you only smack the bottom in this bed-diaper position (which requires...an aunt)I don't see a real advantage with the clasic otk/bottom only.
If I were you (but I'm not) I would return to the classic otk position, where you can quite easily manage alone to immobilize/trap the child, and I'll redden the back of his legs with a small Lexan paddle (baby oil if neccesary)

It will sting like the hell with no damage at all for the skin..
