Laura, if I remember right, you are 17--that is old enough to move out in the UK, is it not? I suggest making arrangements to do so. Fundamentally you are not being listened to or respected, and that is not a safe environment for your mental or physical well-being, particularly given the spankings you describe. Of course, you will have to motivate yourself to do well enough to get results that will get you a place on a good university program, but it sounds like you are capable of doing so.
