Living in England, I had not heard of this pair, but my first thought is how wonderful it must be to live in a country where corporal punishment can still be openly discussed. Of course, babies should not be spanked, but every parent has to accept that their little darling will soon be a selfish and wilful creature that has to be disciplined.

The man's comments are lighthearted, but his "take them down" shows he intends to make the girl co-operate in her own chastisement and intends to get to the bottom of things. While the couple's talk of the rod, which is indeed Biblically sanctioned, gives me hope that she will feel her punishment keenly enough for it to be effective.
