Yes I believe the elders and mother did the right thing in holding a resisting boy down during his spanking punishment and yes the bare bottom spanking was correct for a boy his age. He needed to be taught that he cannot do what he pleases and the sound bare bottom spanking was the right thing to do along with the rod of correction.
