Not for just arguing. But if someone threw a fist, yeah, but that counts as fighting. If we cussed at each other, yeah, but that counts as using dirty words. If we yelled at each other we might get told to quiet down and spanked if we kept it up, but that spanking was for disobeying the order to quiet things down, but not for the argument per se.

Yes. My mom would make me get bare naked in the bathroom then would wash my mouth out with soap, not allow me to rinse, haul me into the den (our "spanking room") by my ear, give me the strap and put me in the corner until I finished crying. Only then could I rinse and get dressed. It was an awful spanking. I'd try to suck in some air to scream, suck down some suds, then gag, cry, gag again. Horrible. Didn't use bad words very often even as a middle teenager.
