Subject: Aditional thoughts and questions from the student teacher thread

I was reading the thread that was asking about being paddled by a "student teacher". Obviously that didn't happen at my school. The Dean handled almost all of the paddlings there.

Who handed out paddlings at your own school?

Though we might have had an equivalent to "student teachers" at my school. Even if they weren't paddling. I suppose that depends on what is meant by "student teacher".

I don't know exactly what that is. Anyone willing to explain go right ahead.

We had teachers, obviously. Also the Principal and the Dean! (They both had assistants) We had substitute teachers. Security and house keeping.

Then the dorm-mothers.

We did have privileged Seniors (and occasionally Juniors) who were allowed to work as assistants to the teachers and Dorm-mothers. (They actually got paid for it, sometimes)

We also had Goffers. (That's how it was pronounced, but I think it was meant to be named for the words "go for" rather than the little furry digging mammals.)

Understudents were often used for Goffer tasks and oftentimes it was given as a punishment.

Seniors and juniors however, they could be paid for a Goffer task.

One night I got stranded at the bus hub, and Hitchcock was sent on Goffer status to retrieve me. He was thrilled because he was also expected to feed me, and they weren't really too concerned about what time he got me back to campus.

He took me for out ice-cream, we flirted with girls, it was a blast for him. And me too, I just figured I'd be in trouble whenever I got back to the school. So that spoiled it a bit.

But I thought I'd enjoy it while I could.

Anytime you figured you were already in trouble, how did you react to it? Did you enjoy your calm before the storm until it was time to face the music? Or did you immediately start worrying about it?
