I don't think either of my parents actively enjoyed spanking me, although I do think they each had a different outlook on it.

I'd guess my dad was a more reluctant spanker who viewed it as a necessary evil. His manner seemed to be one of let's get this over with and I reckon that applied to him as much as it did to me.

I think my mum was much more of a believer in spanking and pretty much decided when I would be spanked and if she would do it or direct my dad that it was his turn. While my dad was a quiet man, my mum always approached everything with enthusiasm. Even in her 90s now, she still has that joie de vivre undimmed. That's not to say I think she was enjoying giving me a spanking, more that it was something she thought needed to be done, so she would do it properly. Not an unpleasant task, just a mum doing what she believed a mum should do.
