In reply to: Allen 's message, "Frequency of school paddling" on 21:42:47 11/26/24 Tue

I attended two private schools. The first was my Primary school was Grades K through 5.

There was no pre-K available and I have no idea if that's just because it was a private school, or if there's another reason it wasn't available. I didn't actually realize Pr-K was a thing until some bureaucrat was trying to talk me into signing my younger boy up for it.

Anyway, in primary school, I never actually brushed up against the threat of school paddling. I never got worse than having to write "the frogs belong in the aquarium" 500 times. So if there was a paddling policy I don't really know what it was.

That said my Best-Friend, being who she was, one might expect that she'd have found out. (And probably dragged me along for the ride. The Frog incident was her idea, after all)

For 6 through 12, I went to the boy's school. They had a rather intense policy on corporal punishment, one member of this forum has actually given the opinion that their method was abuse.

I don't necessarily agree with that assertion, but I can certainly understand his argument. (And point of veiw)

To answer your question, I did have run ins, but it was not often. (Three or four times in seven years)

But then, I was never much known as a huge troublemaker, not as a boy, anyway. And the school preferred to reserve the severe punishments, for more severe rule breaking. They also had options for punishments that public schools did not, simply by the nature of the program.

We literally slept at the school, at least five nights a week. They could revoke TV and Dessert privileges or move you to a problem dorm.

Also, if you got the stick 3 times in the same semester, then you're not coming back the following semester, no matter how much your parents are willing to pay.
