Sweetie, I am so sorry to hear about your Momma doing that. It's really sad. I hope it didn't ruin the vacation for you. I know sometimes parents can get really stressed out, and it's really easy to sometimes take that out on your kids. I don't just mean by abusing them. But sometimes becoming overly critical or impatient over even the little things. It sounds like your Momma was having a bad morning and at the time had no patience with you as a result. It's even more sad to me that she didn't tell you why she punished you so harshly. I hope y'all were able to work things out.

My Granny could be very harsh with her Grandkids, but especially my Cousin Cassie and me. I guess it could have been because we were the oldest, or because we reminded her so much of Momma and my Aunt. But there were a couple of times that Cassie was on the receiving end of the switch too and my Aunt did NOT take kindly to it at all. The last time was when Aunt Connie was in the hospital giving birth to my youngest cousin. Granny was staying there with them taking care of Cassie and the twins. I don't know what she did or if she did anything or not, but I know from what Cassie had told me and what I heard our Momma's talking about, she got a pretty bad whoopin'. I do know that Aunt Connie was mad at Granny for a long time for doing it. She hardly spoke to her at all for over a year. Even during the Holidays.

Like I said, I hope you and your Momma were able to work things out. If you wanna talk about it, feel free to respond.
