--My teen nanny/sitter knew I was motivated by spankings, so a C and D meant time to re-boost grades. Two C's was a judgment call. It worked because I was thereafter doing more homework.
One time, my seventh grade teacher, who had spanked me previously, got called to the house to discuss the two C's etc. She said to spank me right away. I knew she would, and I was, and the embarrassment was just awful. And of course, my grades went up.
