I don’t think I can explain this very well, but I’m going to try.

Nudity was not considered a big deal in my house. Nobody ever just walked around naked, but it was common for things to happen such as me walking in on mom or dad changing and it was never commented on. My mom and I both would just have on a t-shirt and underwear later in the evening when it was almost time for bed. So, the nakedness part of a bare bottom spanking didn’t bother me until I got older. I’m not sure of the exact age but at some point I got very self conscious and the bare part was much worse than the spanking itself.

I remember at the age of 12 I was going to get a spanking from one of my friend’s mom (a whole different story) and I damn near had a panic attack. I wasn’t scared of the spanking, I was scared of the baring.

I got a little long winded. To answer the question, I guess the disconnect I felt was my maturing expectations around modesty as I got older and how that just got thrown out of the window when it came time for a spanking.
