I grew up in the 90s and early 2000s in the rural south and was taken to a public restroom or the backseat of our van many times to have my bare little butt tanned as well. My mother even carried a ping pong paddle in her purse for this very reason. My parents raised 5 kids and had no issue disciplining us on the spot regardless of where we were. I agree it should still be that way. I hated it then of course but I’m a better person because of it as are my brothers.
