There were occasions where Mom and I were at someone's house that we didn't know well enough for her to want to spank me in front of them (not because it would've embarrassed me but because it would've been a rude imposition on them) and she would ask the lady of the house "Is there a quiet room where I can correct my son?" We were always shown to an appropriate place. Of course, it was awful emerging a few minutes later with red eyes and sniffling and everyone knowing what had happened.
