Did you ever get a threat or announcement that didn’t explicitly mention spanking or its effects. Friend used to threaten her daughter, “how would you like to go to the corner?,” which is where she would be put post-spanking. Then of course there is the common announcement, “you’re going over my knee when we get home.”
