Never heard of such... and frankly that might cause serious injury (depending on the type of brush), especially to a child. That would definitively would constitute abuse.

Regarding instruments, what I know it has been used (on me, or friends or people I have talked to) were:

- Hairbrush, belt [which seem to be the most popular. Were used on me and many of my friends]
- Paddles [apparently common in schools in the US although where I lived there was no corporal punishment in schools]
- Wooden spoon/spatula [also very common among my friends]
- Flyswatter, carpet-beater [less common / rare, but I heard them being used]
- slipper [seem to be common in Latino households?]
- broom [This one I feel was abuse but a friend of mine said his mom sometimes his him with the broom handle]
- switch / cane [very common in Asia, some of my friends who grew up there said it was common to get the cane. Switches were very common in the past, like pre WW2]
