She was a sweet lady who I miss very much, but she usually had to wear the hat of third parent with her grandchildren (and she was the primary parent for two of my cousins much of our childhood). She was in charge of me a lot and there was never any doubt that she had the authority to discipline me however she saw fit. Usually that ended with my backside very sore.

I love my mother, but I definitely think always deferring discipline of her children was a flaw. Usually it was wait until your dad gets home. In these two cases, it was go tell your grandma what you did because my dad was out of town.

It was very similar to my dad getting home and executing the sentence my mom gave.
