My cousin who was my age, our friends, and I went through a punk rock phase in the late 80s and early 90s which didn't sit great in our conservative Mexican Catholic family. We used to give each other tattoos at school, which my parents and grandma had a big problem with. Especially my grandma who went to church any time it was open and had a sister who was a nun. My grandma was also like a third parent so she didn't consult my parents before spanking me and they didn't rehash things if I had been punished by her.

Anyway, my grandma picked me and my cousin up from school one time and Andrea had her arm covered in stuff. She told her to wash up when we got to her house and that doing that again would mean a long spanking with her brush. Andrea didn't always make wise decisions and about a month later had her arm covered when my grandma picked us up and our Abuelita was as good as her word.

I thought I was smarter than that but one day in ninth grade I think volleyball practice got canceled at the last minute, and I had both arms covered, including the F word. When I walked out, she was waiting to pick up my cousin and saw me and called me over to go home. I knew I was getting it the moment she saw me. She told me I had 15 minutes to get it washed off or the spanking would be worse. I didn't have it cleaned but I think that was just something she said. The spanking did go on for a very long time comparatively. I think that was my last spanking from either parents or her. I did get paddled at school a couple of years later.
