In hindsight, it was a very important part of my spankings that my dad or mom sent me to my bedroom for some time to "think about it" (whatever I had done to be sentenced to anspanking). While I was naturally scared about what was coming, it did also indeed force me to think about it. Especially as I was in my older age eleven and twelve age spanking years, there are definitely memories I have now (over 45 years later) thinking to myself how dumb I was. That sense of accountability was important. No matter how scared I was of the spanking, the self acknowledgement that it was my own lack of discipline did register. And, while my eleven or twelve year old self hates to admit it, the 30 or forty seconds of unbearable sting that inevitably came just burned it all in as a disciplinary memory.
