Well Sweetie, I'm Southern born and Southern bred and when I die I'll be Southern Dead. Anyway, I'm that cross between a Southern Belle and a Redneck Girl. All kidding aside. While family is pretty conservative, we weren't taught to be ashamed of our bodies. But my sister and I when we were younger wore one piece swimsuits because Momma came from a very conservative religious background and wore one piece suits and didn't really feel it was appropriate for little girls to run around in bikinis. It took some convincing for her to allow me to get my first bikini at thirteen. But she had to approve it. She also had me start wearing a bra when I was nine because I started developing early. I wasn't allowed to wear make up or get my ears pierced until I was fourteen. But on the other hand, I started shaving my legs and underarms at ten because I didn't like wearing shorts or skirts with hairy legs and she actually sat with me in the bathroom and taught me how to shave so I wouldn't cut myself all to hell learning. I'm a little weird, but, I hated getting my pubic hair, I hated it because it was itchy and uncomfortable and honestly kind of embarrassing to me. Then I found out when I had my first period just before turning twelve, how gross it was to have hair down there when you're on your period. So I started shaving there before I was twelve. When Momma found out about it, we had a talk about it. I didn't get in any trouble but she did try to convince me I'd get used to it. But after some discussion, she relented and just told me to be careful because a cut there would hurt a lot more than on my legs or pits. On the other hand, I didn't like wearing a bra and it ticked me off that my brothers could run around without a shirt on all the time and I couldn't, but that was life.

While I'm not giving specific information on where I grew up and actually still live. I'll say it's in one of the Southern States. We're about an hour or so from the Gulf and Gulf Shores is one of our favorite vacation spots. I city I live in, isn't all that small but it has a small town feel to it and always has. I can't imagine ever living anywhere else. I grew up in a nice neighborhood in a four bedroom ranch with a big back yard and full basement. A nice little home in the suburbs. Where I live now, is only a couple of blocks away from where I grew up. In fact, my kids go to the same Schools I went to.

I was born in the late eighties, I'm thirty-seven now. The swimsuits were a little less modest in the nineties. As far as comparing them to the clothes in the 70's, the only comparisons I can make are older movies and pictures. But being as pretty conservative about showing skin in public Momma was a little hesitant to go there with my sister and me. While the bikini I picked out wasn't super modest, it wasn't like wearing a thong. It showed a little more skin (especially my butt) than she was comfortable with, but she was willing to work with me on it. It was a big step for her when she was raised by a woman who would have taken a switch and whipped her bloody for even thinking about wearing something like that in public. In fact my Granny was so uptight, she would insist they not only had to wear a one piece suit, but they also had to wear a shirt over it to cover everything. I'm really happy that Momma in spite of her upbringing was willing to work with me on things like that growing up.
