When you got a spanking from my mother, that meant she turned you over her knee, pulled down your panties, and slapped your poor bare little bottom fast and hard, holding you tightly in position so as to make every spank count. You'd be bawling before she was halfway through, with tears streaming down your face. But she would continue until she was certain you had learned your lesson. This typically meant roughly 2-3 slaps for each year of your age, although I don't believe she counted.

I assumed this was how our grandmother had spanked our mother when she was growing up, although I never asked her about her childhood spankings. (I wish I had, but talking about spankings was very awkward for me when I was little, especially to *Mommy* of all people).

Our father's father spanked him with a razor strap when he was little. Thank goodness Daddy didn't carry on THAT tradition with his daughters! When I was in my teens, one of my friends reported having had a conversation with our father and the subject of spanking somehow came up. Apparently our parents had spoken together about child discipline when our mother was pregnant with me (her first). They agreed that they would spank, but only with their hand. I imagine our father allowed himself to be guided by our mother in that regard, and I'm SO glad we weren't razor strapped!

Daddy spankings hurt just as much as Mommy spankings, and I feared them both equally. But one thing Daddy didn't do was bare us. He would spank over all your clothing, whatever you were wearing. He also spanked you slower, and with fewer slaps, but HARDER. He really walloped your bottom, and even if you had a thick pleated skirt, a slip, tights and panties covering your bottom, you felt it! When he finished, your bottom hurt just as much and you were crying just as hard as when Mommy spanked you. A Daddy spanking involved roughly a little over one swat for each year of your age.

I wonder if he spanked us over our clothing because that was how he was disciplined as a boy? or if it had to do with us being girls? He's gone now so I'll never know. :-(

By the time I felt able to talk with my father as an adult about my spankings, he couldn't remember either of our parents ever spanking me at all, although he did remember my sister getting spanked. In his memory I was such a good girl that I never needed to be spanked - certainly not in MY memory!

I do know that once I was school aged, I would have been very embarrassed at having Daddy pull my panties down and I'm SO glad he never did.

Was anyone else raised with parents with different spanking styles? Please share.
