Absolutely! Under no circumstances should you use your school email address on any website other than the school website! Don't make this mistake!

Anyone can participate.
It's private in the sense that when you log in, it's notified, so everyone knows you're online. When the chat is empty because everyone has logged out, everything written is automatically deleted, and anyone who logs in later won't see it. In this sense, it's private and allows you to be more honest and direct, and write things that would be embarrassing in a public chat like this.
