We lived in a heavily wooded area around large oak trees and we having some to close to a house cut down. The guy citting down trees with a dump truck, came with a daughter our age of about 8 or 9. We were a bit surprised when girl stripped down to panties and played with us as it was normally a boy thing to do that.

That is interesting!
It was adifferent times and I was too little to understand much, but it was as though a few cultural norms were ending and some were clashing at that time. Kids were free ranging and boiys had more freedom.
We had a local town park with a kids pool and on quiet weekdays in summer boys used the kids pool naked like you mentioned. No one said a word but it was customary for boys over 12 to wear suits.
If it was a backyard pool day at my friends house, we generally did not get dressed that day. We did other things naked in summer but will leaver it at that. Just a better time perhaps to be a kid.
