I was nude on Beaches until 12 to 14 as well.

I did not think much of it as this was norm for boys in Florida at one time. If younger boys in group I always joined them to no objection. Park rangers never said a word either.

Girls never did or stopped around 8 or 9 to best of my memory

It's true, girls start wearing swimsuit bottoms between the ages of 6 and 8. It may seem like an unfair double standard but parents are fine with it.
