It was usual then for boys be naked on beach, although, girls much younger than they wear swimsuits. Of course, it was double standard but all parents did so

I certainly grew up same way!
I was told boys being naked in summer was a gift you give the girls. If any other boy did I was told to join them. till even 14. We would even ride in car naked to beach back then.
Another boy I grew up with younger than me would not wear clothes at home all summer. I would join him often. His siter was my age but I never felt embarrassed.

It wasn’t unusual when on beach naked boys play together with girls in swimsuits until at least 12-13.

It was pretty lenient for boys in Florida in 70s, but customs on beaches varied a little bit. We would often go around cape Canaveral on lagoon or ocean side and it was always relaxed.
One mom I went with had two boys and a girl. If I went with them boys were always naked all day.
