I was spanked mostly by my mom. A spanking from dad was reserved for serious offense. I was also spanked more rarely by my grandparents, my aunt, and certain babysitters. >Do you attend church (its fine if not) ? No, my fiancée and I did not grow up religious. We don’t currently go to to church and don’t plan to once we have kids. We have agreed that we will take them if they express an interest in going. >Are you stricter than your parents were? I don’t have kids yet so it’s hard to say. I think my parents were awesome and I would like to be just as strict as they were. However, I don’t plan on spanking as often as they did. >Do you think society is slowing moving back towards >supporting spanking as the main discipline for kids? I think it depends on how you look at it. This is purely my speculation and not based on anything other than my life experiences, but I think parents actually spank more than they did in previous generations. But, a “spanking” is just a couple smacks on a clothed butt. >Have you ever witnessed any spankings in public? Yes, most recently about a month ago. >Do/Would you allow babysitters to spank? It depends on who the babysitter is! If it’s a trusted adult, I’d be fine with them spanking. I don’t plan on giving spanking permission to some high schooler from down the street. My fiancée and I both have given spankings to kids we have babysat. >How should we keep teens growing up too fast? let kids >be kids I have no idea! >Do you use a private/christian/home school approach, >are you like me see public schools as failing our >kids? how do you counteract their teachings at home? My kids will probably attend public school. I think one issue with public schools is they aren’t great with teaching “outside of the box” thinking. As long as my kids have a curiosity about the world, I’ll be happy. Plus, the quality of public schools varies greatly. >Did you drink out of hoses and have to stay outside >till streetlights came on as a kid? Yep! My mom used to straight up kick me out of the house and tell me not to come back until the sun started setting! [ Next Thread | Previous Thread | Next Message | Previous Message ] |
