Belt to the underwear, bare if a "bad" thing. My last at age 10. Do you attend church (its fine if not) ? Yes, Calvary Chapel. I like simple Bible churches. Are you stricter than your parents were? I think about the same with the "adopted" family in terms of expectations. Do you think society is slowing moving back towards supporting spanking as the main discipline for kids? It needs to. More liberal states will be slower to do so. I think society as a whole is reacting against increased crime. That could also spawn a return. Have you ever witnessed any spankings in public? Nope. Do/Would you allow babysitters to spank? I would rather issues be noted for follow-up. If it was a full weekend, yes, it would be preferred. How should we keep teens growing up too fast? let kids be kids. Amen to that. The solution IMO is parental involvement and teaching them balance early on (e.g., limiting screen time). Do you use a private/christian/home school approach, are you like me see public schools as failing our kids? how do you counteract their teachings at home? The kids in the adopted family went to public school and I served a 4-year term on the board myself. Now, I would definitely home-school or use a private Christian school if it were my own kids. I think all common-sense parents need to examine what they are being taught and don't be afraid to make noise. Did you drink out of hoses and have to stay outside till streetlights came on as a kid? All the time! I grew-up in San Jose, CA long before it became Silicon Valley. On a Saturday, you did your chores then met up with the other kids on the block. Didn't return until dinner, then out again until the streetlights came on. Life was so different in the US back then. [ Next Thread | Previous Thread | Next Message | Previous Message ] |
