Sarah,
When I have to spank one of my children, they are taken or called to the living room. After a brief question and answer session, they are told to remove their clothing from the waist down. They are lectured/scolded then over my knee. I first spank with my hand. Once they have a nice pink bottom I then switch to the brush or paddle. They generally get 20 to 25 firm swats with the implement. Once I hear remorse crying and their bottom and back of thighs are a nice bright tomato red I stop, and they immediately go face the corner. After they have stopped crying/sobbing they sit and we cuddle and talk about why they were spanked and anything else they want to talk about.
