clayton's family was apprehensive because of the age difference between him and his significant other, who happened to be a minor, which is a legitimate reason for their apprehension. i am not judging, but these are 2 very different situations.

Since you are so young, your parents probably want you to experience many more relationships before you choose to settle down. it doesnt mean they will not like this person, it just means that they need some time to get used to the idea of you being involved in something that seems so serious. maybe if you explain that you are interested in this person and can see them as a friend also, that might ease their worries, just like Clayton says.

I'm sure you will meet many many other guys in life, so don't let this situation get you down. Take it as a learning experience.
