Clayton's right: it would probably help if you mentioned what he was doing once in a while, or perhaps something that had come up in one of your conversations. That way he maintains a constant presence in your life for them.

I was hesitant to even mention my online sweetheart much at all because I knew my parents wouldn't understand, and after having one failed marriage I didn't want to appear to be a total flake to my parents again. However, now that I'm engaged and going through the whole immigration process to get him here, they know I'm serious, and it's helped to tell them about things going on in his life and what we've been talking about.

I wish you much luck. Internet relationships are not easy even under the best of circumstances.
