The question is whether it is worth even recruiting HS kids anymore with the portal. This is certainly the opposite of what we saw the last 2 years. The view of some is that HS recruits are more of a risk because of their younger age and skill levels, especially at the Mid level. If they are Real good, they will just transfer after 2 years for a higher level program for the NIL money.
This situation sucks but it is the life of a mid level program.

That's smart of GP to play both recruiting sources. Other than the time invested, it could pay off big-time. GP got 4 years out of Hammond which shows that a very good HS recruit can stay 4 years. If you can get at least 2 or 3 years out of a good HS recruit, coupled with any portal success, that sounds like a good formula to me.

Never said GP actually recruited Hammond.

GP was able to keep Hammond at Niagara which meant he played for 4 years at the school. The point was and is that it's possible to keep a talented kid at the same school for up to, and including 4 years. That it's NOT inevitable that just because a kid is talented, he has to leave his original school.

GP was able to get 4 years out of Hammond, in other words the kid didn't leave just because Casey was terminated. GGP was able to keep the kid at NU until he graduated. That's all I really meant.
