An amateur , such a college athlete is one who is NOT paid for his or her services or endeavors. So now we have students who already receive over $100,000 in scholarship money over a 4 year period in tuition, fees, books and housing , getting PAID to play amateur sports at an educational institution of higher learning. They are quite literally-PROFESIONALS ! There should be NO PLACE for a PROFESSIONAL ATHLETE at a University OR even at the OLYMPICS ! There was a time that a pro would not have been allowed to play their sport at a University OR in the Olympics. Kids will still want to go to college and play ball AND will, just as in the past, will stay at their the schools they have chosen; unless for good reason, transfer. WHY ? Because the kids will have no other good choice. They are not going to the NBA out of high school; nor are they going to play overseas (because of inexperience or lack of talent).
