I read a book once entitled INTENSITY by Koontz. It was about a serial killer that reveled in the intensity of the kill, of life, of everything. At the end he dies by being lit on fire. His reaction was, "this is it?" Dying was not intense for him. Maybe he thought he was giving his victims some sort of intensity when they died. Not sure. Owel, back to my "work" reading.
