Subject: Hi all! Texas Ren. Festival & next year's N.E. Faires!

Well met all! I am new to this forum, and hope to get to know everyone over the next few months. I've been woking on my garb for the last 2 years, and it is now ready to wear. I'll be wearing it (medieval knight) for the first time at the texas renaissance Festival! (to which I'll be going, in 2 weeks) I happen to be lucky enough to have my mother & sister, who live in Houston. (only about an hours drive to the festival) Anyway, I'm wondering if anyone here has been to it? I know it's suppossed to be one of the biggest & best Faires in the country.
Also, since this season here is basically over, I hope to attend next years Faires with hopefully new friends made here.
Anon,
Sir Michael

Branwyn, you missed me by I few years!(for the kilt inspections, that is!) (ohhhhh behaaaaave!) I used to play the Scottish pipes years ago, and competed at new england highland games. Unfortunately, I have traded my kilt in for a medievel tunic. (not literally, but I sold it years ago)
Oh well ....

*Mutters something under his breath about needing to trade in his breeches for a kilt.*

Thanks for the welcome, Branwyn. Like I said to Lilly, I would go to KRF this weekend if I didn't have to save $ for the TRF. (it's a rare opportunity to go, so I better do it up right!)

Sir Michael: I have never attended the TX Faire but I hear it's wonderful (and HUGE). Look for Jim Hancock and the Burly Minstrels. They put on a great show. He and his Minstrels perform at the Sterling Faire (in Upstate NY) and they are very well received there. I believe Jim is also the music director for the TX Faire. He sometimes just uses his name alone and other times he uses the band name, The Burly Minstrels. Either way, Jim is in it. Hope you have fun and we expect to hear all about it. Theresa

Theresa, I'm sure I will check out the Burly Minstrels, hope I can fit everything into one day! I will definitely give a full report when I get back. I'll be taking pictures as well, so if I can get my scanner fixed (something is amiss with it lately) , mayhaps I can send the pics to StacyAnn to post.

Dear Sir Michael,

Have fun at Texas! I hope to make it down there soon as well. ;) I have been doing some research about that Faire, and how can you possibly not go somewhere that is open from 9 a.m. to dusk and has Fireworks?!?

Another show to check out at Texas is "To The Hilt". They were at KRF for four weeks and they were wonderful!!! Laughter and fun for all age levels! They also Guest Co-Directed the Apprentices this year at KRF. JCP and Ryan are amazing people and everyone misses them very much up here.

I truly hope you are able to enjoy yourself down at Texas. As previously mentioned KRF is open for one more weekend, so if you can, come and see us! :)

Take care and safe travels,
Lilly

Lilly, thanks, I surely will have an awesome time in Texas!
Although I'd like to go to KRF this week, I have to save as much money as possible, to bring down to the TRF! (I know there's going to be TOO much good stuff to buy there!)
I will definitely check out "to the hilt"!
Sir Michael
