what are we here for if not to appreciate each other? *grin*

that said, iambic pentameter...yes, i must have had a poetry lesson somewhere or that wouldnt have stuck in my head. i remember reading all of shakespeare's sonnets with a passion once upon a time (i was fascinated with who 'will' could be - boy or girl??? - we will never know) so that must be where i picked it up. i've only seen a play's at the faire and on tv so i don't know if they were well done or not, but you make me want to see one! i loved the movie Titus, that was incredible.

my understanding is that a sonnet has a particular evolution, a statement in the first quatrain, a complication in the second quatrain, a resolution in the third and an epigrammatic couplet to follow. very complicated to do well. i would never attempt one either! (i barely write poetry anyhow and i cant make it rhyme LOL!)

so for you to do what you have done (the 2 poems i have read)...well my appreciation is honest! i am not saying you are yeats or rimbaud...but you do have raw talent. to be further honest though, i cannot really critique your poetry...i dont know enough, i am not a writer...i can only gush and praise. that probably is not enough for you if you are thinking about it seriously. a proper writer's forum might be better, though they can be harsh sometimes. still, sometimes that is the only way to grow. ok, enough rambling! i still want to see your poetry though.
