thank you again for your critique and compliments. but all this gushing is making me blush!

but alrighty! i'll leave it as is and take off the ellipses. don't know what to call it, however...

and wow, you know you're poetry! i hadn't even realized that i'd written my poem in double quatrain! i was just keeping the rhythm akin to a lyrical style. you know, with the aabba form and waltz metre. my first poem i posted was quite original, i thought, in the abccba metre.

iambic pentameter is the rhythm of classic shakespearian sonnets. he invented that form, you know. but anyway...iambic pentameter is the rhythm of a line. 10 syllables, lilting rhythm.

like da DA da DA da DA da DA da DA
("ah ME what EYES hath LOVE put IN my HEAD?" sonnet 142, i believe, but don't quote me on that, or even "but SOFT! what LIGHT through YONder WINdo BREAKS?" romeo & juliet)
and that, my dear, is iambic pentameter. when watching shakespeare performed by superb actors, the rhythm is just so captivating. i love it!

i'm nowhere near gifted enough to write a sonnet....

but seriously, if you want to see more of my poetry i'll see what i can dig up for you! wow! i'm so glad you like my stuff! i never thought i had any talent as a poet, seriously! :0)

medeis, you're awesome!
