 pern is a great fantasy book about dragonriders if you are into that kind of stuff. i first started reading it when i was younger and you know what?...i still come back to those books over and over even though it has been like 10 years. if you do want to read one try Dragonflight first, that's the one i read first and then i was hooked.

and something else, these books are not intellectual, they are cheeseball fantasy! pure enjoyment! it is a guilty pleasure. just so you know you are not delving into some great philosophy or something.
