very interesting and informative post as usual delena! i don't think you sound like a smarty-pants at all, and i like to hear your thoughts.

i guess in the mythological sense that vampires are creatures of darkness. i had not heard of them as being necessarily soulless though. again, i guess it depends on which mythology you draw from. then too, in the real world, we have real vampires (some say human, some declare not quite human). they have, i am quite sure, souls, and are not killers. (i dont speak of psychopaths here). i am not sure redemption is an issue in this case. i only bring this up because i have been studying vampires lately. it is too easy, being a buffy/angel fan as i am, to think of vampires in the framework of joss whedon's universe. the vampire question is complex for me. mainly because i think of it on two levels: the mythological which encompasses many different types of uber-vampire, and the mundane, or real world in which we see people struggling to define themselves in terms of their need for blood. interesting situation.

anyhow, those are my sleepy thoughts. once again, i appreciate hearing more about gargoyles, a subject sadly lacking in my education. thank you for telling us more!

*tries to disguise big yawn...have to sleep soon!*
