yeah, we split off and the neanderthals went one way and we went the cro-magnon way. we are different species, with a common remote ancestor. not that i am an anthropologist or anything and that is about the extent of my knowledge.

but the same thing can be applied to cro-magnon. whether it can be applied to pithacantropus erectus is another question. so we have to look to gorillas and chimpanzees for behavior and certainly social conformity is the order. undoubtably this is a protective mechanism. i am sure somebody somewhere has done a book on this or a thesis.

so, in short, i agree that something in our genes prompts the general person to behavior that is conformist. i also think that for the survival of the species and for evolutionary advancement that occasional aberrations are born, geniuses, artist, independent and intuitive thinkers. thus we get our "lone wolves". it too is for survival of the species.

is it not wonderful that we can reduce everything to a genetic level.
