I would not dispute that spiritual experiences can usually be better explained by other than accepting them as proof of the reality of God.

If we are looking for objective proof of God's existence, then reported experiences do not provide it. Evidence for God's existence remains subjective and personal. It is a matter of belief rather than objectively proven fact.

I must add though, that while the explanation that God wishes us to search for him through faith is reasonable, it is hard for me to see why any aliens might want us to have faith in their existence without providing us with indisputable proof of their existence.

It also seems that while perhaps 99% of claimed spiritual experiences are from cranks, there are also some very sincere spiritual people who have such experiences. In the case of alien visitation/abduction though, they always seem to occur to the most improbable people.
