I have always been impressed by Noah's hard work in gathering two of each of the 370,000 known species of beetle together in just one week. Not bad for a 600 year old man, even if he had a little help from his family.

If you are going to use the Genesis story as evidence, then you should also pay attention to the geneology which follows, and which tends to place the flood at about 4000B.C. as most creationists do. You should also not ignore the fact that Genesis speaks of the waters increasing for 40 days, something which a tidal wave would not cause.

If we are allowed to choose a few verses here and there, take them out of context, interpret them in any way we want, ignore the inconvenient few thousand years which don't fit in, and ignore anything contradictory, then it should be possible to provide an equally plausible biblical "proof" of anything we like.
