SRF did provide an article about Sri Daya Mata's lifestyle shortly after the allegations in the LA New Times appeared.

It can be found here

It seems to me that some people are very mean spirited towards this lady. People may consider her to have made some mistakes as the President of SRF, but her loyalty to her guru and to SRF is surely not in question. She has been a kriyaban and follower of Paramahansa Yogananda for nearly 70 years, during which time she endured her fair share of hardship and plain living. Now, towards the end of her life she spends some time at a house owned by SRF (though she lives mainly at Mount Washington), where she has more privacy and is able to devote more time to her writings as one of the last remaining personal disciples of Paramahansa Yogananda. Why is this a problem for some people?

As a worldwide organisation designed to last in perpetuity SRF needs to make a diverse range of investments, which may well include residential property. Would it be better if SRF did not use this house for Sri Daya Mata or any other monastics, but simply left it empty, or rented it out on a commercial basis?

Mount Washington itself is a very beautiful site. Shall we criticise the monastics who live there for enjoying the facilities it offers, with the California climate and the lovely gardens?

There are many cases of spiritual leaders living in luxury on the back of followers donations, and such people do deserve to be exposed (in my opinion) but that does not seem to be what is happening here. This is a lady who works tirelessly for SRF at an age when most people would be happy to settle for an easy retirement. She has given her life to her guru's work, she should not now have to wear a hair shirt to impress the newspapers.
