There is so much to say to you jock/racist idiots who hate hip hop, I wish I could sit here at work and explain to each and everyone of you why you're wrong on every level and site examples. Yes, mainstream rap is repetetive, but mainstream rap is DANCE MUSIC. Hip hop is the new music, just like jazz and rock. Here's a few points:

1. If you hate rap, you are a racist. Don't deny it, just go with it. You KNOW its true, so admit it. But don't forget blacks made up rock, too. They're just good at that type of stuff, you know?

2. People who say its not music are just close minded people afraid of change.
example a: Electronics are the future of music. Man used rocks when that was all that was available to beat on. Then instruments, then electric guitars, then synths, now samplers/computers, and on and on.
Rock bands are forever. So is singing, and now so is rap music, a brand new music. You should be excited...
it keeps evolving, @#%$ whats on the radio, you've never heard the good @#%$.

Any good rapper hits more notes in one sentence than any singer who drags out a whole sentence into two notes. Each word is said on time and with melody. Its more suddle cause thats the nature of rap. JOcks and the dumb need music explicitely explained to them even while it happens. Rap thought moves to fast for you , maybe thats the real problem. Thats why when you try to repeat a rapper's line to mock it it sounds stupid. You can't do it, don't pretend its easy. The best rappers mix singing with speaking to make the next level. Ooooh, you're scared...
3. rap lyrics are infinitely superior to any genre's lyrics in the history of music. THis is a FACT. It is the only music which has advanced in lyricism in such small a time. I have been studying music all my life and settled on hip hop to be the next and most important music at this moment mostly because the lyrics. Its non stop lyrics. I'm not talking about Puffy or 50 cent. Check the lyrics for a Black Star or Company Flow song for example. Rock is still on that old:
girl, world
still, kill

type @#%$ while hip hop advances. It is so vital to lyrics. Before rap, you'd be lucky to hear more than a two syllable word being rhymed. You want to dumb it down, why? Does it hurt your brain?

4. The beats: ah, the object of hate and ridicule because its not a live band. Let me explain why you're a @#%$ retard:
Classical composers were geniuses, they would write a whole piece by themselves and have an orchestra play it.
Whats a solo composer in touch with the music of today supposed to do, write "classical" @#%$? @#%$ that, electronic music. The technology of today allows him to do what he wants, and express his vision. Not everyone wants to play in a band, not everyone who chooses to make music solo wants it to be solo piano/guitar etc, and bottom line is synths and drum machines sound good to a lot of people, and anything can be an instrument if played with skill and heart. Obviously the greatest achievements by live instrumentation is not going to be overshadowed by a "beat", but there's room in this world for everything. Classic rock is already classic, the new rock bands aren't doing anything new, but hey I'm not a closeminded @#%$ like you, there's room for every kind of music.

Now let me explain a couple of other points, briefly. I welcome your critisism.

sampling: hip hop beats were originally made by DJ's from old records. Puffy's sampling of led zeppeling is stupid and hated by everyone, included rap fans. The real object of sampling is to use @#%$ that would be lost in time. They're doing you a service, exposing you to a cool melody you would have never heard. Thats what a DJ does, expose you to music. If all a producer does is sample, then @#%$, his musical talent is in question, but doing it sparingly is a unique and GREAT part of hip hop.

EBONICS: Why do you pretend you speak in perfect english? You gotta be kidding me. If you hate ebonics...u a racist. EVERYBODY uses slang, ebonics just got popular cause just like when they came up with rock and it sounded better than the charleston, ebonics sounds cooler than: like, totally BRO

wiggers: everybody laughs at wiggers, including hardcore rap fans. If you HATE them, or think everyone that listens to rap is a wigger wit' his doorag and pants hanging on down, the problem might be with you. Maybe your parents beat you, get in touch with your anger.

In conclusion, almost every musician has been influenced by rap, especially those who want to remain relevant.
HIP HOP is taking over, don't be scared.
Saying you hate it cause what you heard on MTV is like saying I hate rock cause I heard Creed or Good Charlotte. Its just stupid.
